These laws are made to ensure that trust money held by agents is properly accounted for and handled correctly.

Large Proprietary Companies, Public Companies and ACNC Charity Audits
Large proprietary companies must prepare and lodge a financial report and a director’s report for each financial year. The accounts must be audited unless the Australian Securities & Investment Commission (ASIC) grants relief.
A proprietary company is defined as ‘large’ for a financial year if it satisfies at least two of the below criteria:
- The consolidated revenue for the financial year of the company and any entities it controls is $50 million or more
- The value of the consolidated gross assets at the end of the financial year of the company and any entities it controls is $25 million or more, and
- The company and any entities it controls have 100 or more employees at the end of the financial year
Public companies have extensive reporting and auditing obligations each year. Medium charities (with annual revenue of more than $250,000 but less than $1 million) are required to submit financial reports that have been either reviewed or audited, while larger charities (with annual revenue over $1 million) must submit audited financial reports.
The three entities listed in this category require the auditor to be a registered company auditor. Wardle Partners are not registered company auditors and are therefore unable to perform them.
Wardle Partners have been my personal accountants since around 1983, and they have looked after my business accounting and also Trust Account auditing since 2008. They have always acted with courtesy and professionalism, from when I was just a simple individual tax payer, to running a complicated business and Trust Account. I have nothing negative to say about them and can highly recommend using their services for whatever your accounting needs are.
The Caloundra Chamber of Commerce has engaged Wardle Partners as our auditors for several years now. You expect auditors to be thorough, investigative, competent and complete in their work and our experience is that Wardle Partners always are. But, additionally they are very human and engaging and the audit is actually something that we never fear. Each year it’s a pleasure to have Mark and Donna in the office for a short period. They do their very best to work to our timelines and are always available to answer tricky questions in between audits. We love their approach and respect the professional service that we get each and every year from the team.
As Cabinet Treasurer for Lions District 201Q3 for the past three years, I have received exceptional service from Wardle Partners. Wardle Partners have been our organisations Auditors for quite a few years and all my predecessors have the same opinion of this Practice. The level of communication and delivery is always timely and their willingness to assist us in improving our accounting standards and practices has been most helpful. We have appreciated Wardle Partners patience and encouragement to the Treasurers of this organisation as the responsible Officers change quite frequently which means Wardle Partners have to deal with differing levels of competency. As District Treasurer, I am personally grateful for their assistance and guidance and would not hesitate in recommending them to other Lions organisations.
